Unattended Teamviewer Deployment

Disclaimer: Please note that if you deploy the free version of TeamViewer, you are responsible for checking whether you fulfill the current conditions to use it for your purpose or not.

Use FastTrack Automation Studio to repackage the free or licensed version of TeamViewer (Full or Host) into MSI format for GPO or SCCM deployment without using unreliable snapshots. Or you can deploy without repackaging at all.

You can also use FastTrack’s inventory to keep track of TeamViewer IDs on your network.

  • Deploy Teamviewer as MSI silently with existing account details
  • Automatically appends FastTrack Cloud Inventory with Teamviewer ID

Unattended Installation of Malwarebytes

Disclaimer: Please note that if you deploy the free version of AVG, you are responsible for checking whether you fulfil the current conditions to use it for your purpose or not.

A solution to deploying Malwarebytes Free unattended by repackaging it into Windows Installer (MSI) format without bundle products. The problem with Group Policy deployment is that the installation of Malwarebytes is not in MSI format, which is a requirement. Convert the installation to MSI format without using unreliable snapshots. Also deploy without repackaging at all.

Repacking with FastTrack adds a new and exciting feature to Group Policy deployments. You can add launch conditions to prevent installation on some computers in the Group Policy OU or container.

  • Repackage Malware Bytes EXE as MSI
  • Build in launch conditions to allow / prevent installation on certain systems

Unattended Installation of Microsoft Security Essentials

Disclaimer: Please note that if you deploy the free version of AVG, you are responsible for checking whether you fulfil the current conditions to use it for your purpose or not.

FastTrack Automation Studio’s solution for deploying Microsoft Security Essentials unattended by repackaging the 32 and 64 bit setup files into one Windows Installer (MSI) format file. The problem with Group Policy deployment is that the installation of Microsoft Security Essentials is not in MSI format, which is a requirement. Convert the installation to MSI format without using unreliable snapshots. You can also deploy without repackaging at all.

  • Repackage Microsoft Security Essentials EXE as MSI
  • Build in launch conditions to allow / prevent installation on certain systems

Repacking with FastTrack adds a new and exciting feature to Group Policy deployments. You can add launch conditions to prevent installation on some computers in the Group Policy OU or container.

Building Windows Installer (MSI) files (EXE to MSI)

You can use FastTrack Automation Studio to repackage setup programs that are not MSI-based. This allows you to avoid using unreliable before-and-after snapshots that bypass the installer logic to build deploy-able MSI files.

Repackaged or custom built MSI packages built with FastTrack Automation Studio also adds a new and exciting feature to Group Policy deployments: Add launch conditions to prevent the installation on some computers in a container, OU or perhaps system architecture if you don’t want a 64bit MSI to run on a 32bit system for example.

You can also build a custom MSI file that is a vehicle for installing your script as a scheduled task, Windows service or Windows Explorer startup item.

All of FastTracks ‘in app’ functionality can be easily converted to and enhanced with custom scripting in our easy to learn language. It’s not possible for us to enable all config options in the config wizard screens (there are over 1,500 of them) so if you need to perform a certain function or achieve a particular condition you would add this to the ‘custom script’ function.

If you need any assistance in writing custom scripts please let us know we’d be glad to help!

  • Convert EXE or FSH (FastTrack Scripts) to MSI
  • Use FastTracks powerful condition system to filter MSI installation for selective installation via Group Policy
  • Convert EXEs to run as scheduled tasks, services or Windows Explorer startup items

Infrastructure Light Software Deployment

FastTrack ships with a full featured software deployment solution that can deploy and remove software from your clients by simple mouse-clicks. You can also use it to deploy drivers, desktop shortcuts, registry keys and much more.

In these days of the cloud where we remove on premises infrastructure, FastTrack totally voids the need to install and maintain an onsite management server. Keeping track of things by viewing the cloud-based inventory that is automatically taken and comes with your license.

So you are basically “just” writing a script that runs recurrently without being directly aware of it. This opens up a whole new world of flexibility.

Our core scripting language is the largest in the world and it has a real simple syntax that you can quickly learn. So if you hit the dreaded configuration wall and end up in a place, where the configuration GUI does not suffice, you can just tap down to the “Custom Script” left menu and write a custom snippet. Or you can “take over” script lines built by the GUI and modify to your needs in Scripting Mode. If you have trouble doing that, you can contact support.

If you have ever used Desktop Authority, you will know that updates are a big pain. When there is a new version, you need to update all clients and often this results in manual service of some of them. With FastTrack you NEVER need to update the clients. Push it out once using a few Group Policy clicks and you never need to touch clients again. So how can we be sure of that? Simple – the clients don’t really do anything. The client MSI installs a scheduled task that synchronizes the FastTrack Scripting host engine fsh.exe and a script file from a network folder and executes the script using this engine exe. If you upgrade FastTrack Automation Studio on your admin computer, the engine FSH.exe will automatically update on the network folder, and therefore in turn on all clients.

Our solution is also considerably cheaper than common alternatives. And included in licensing, you get the Logon Script Builder that works in the same way to connect shares, printers and install Outlook signatures. You also get a free private cloud inventory and ability to build you own custom MSI files.

All of FastTracks ‘in app’ functionality can be easily converted to and enhanced with custom scripting in our easy to learn language. It’s not possible for us to enable all configuration options in the config wizard screens (there are over 1,500 of them). So if you need to perform a certain functionality or achieve a particular condition you would add this to the ‘custom script’ function.

  • Super thin full blown Software Deployment solution
  • Requires no additional infrastructure other than a simple network share
  • Can operate within AD or non AD environments

Automated, Infrastructure Free Driver Deployment

Using FastTracks powerful and infrastructure-less Software Deployment functionality, users can also use the same solution for the mass deployment and removal of Windows drivers.

For driver installation, update and removal, all that is required to do is to upload the driver .inf file to the distribution system. If there is a different driver for 64bit and 32bit systems, you can upload both infs and the correct driver will be installed automatically without any further configuration.

Once your inf files are uploaded you can use computer or OS conditions, single, multiple (OR/AND) and also reverse ‘negate’ conditions to visually build easy to read rules on which systems will get what drivers.

It’s always a good idea to also think laterally about condition selection.

For example, imagine you have a new high quality A0 design printer for CAD users and you need to install drivers for all users of this printer, who may span multiple departments. If you had a perfectly up to date and organised Active Directory, you could roll out the driver to the members of just these OUs. But there might be overlap, people that belong to the OU but don’t actually use the printer, and those that don’t belong that do. So a smarter way to perform the install, if you knew that everyone that needed to print to the CAD printer was also running specific make of CAD software, you could set this as a condition (in addition with others) to ensure that driver gets to all the right systems. Also, if in future, a PC from another department was to be re-purposed, and the CAD software installed, the A0 printer driver would get automatically installed.

  • Enables conditional driver installation and updates across your network
  • Automatic selection of x86 or x64 drivers depending on target
  • Extremely infrastructure ‘thin’ just a simple network share needed
  • Works in AD and non AD environments

Automated Application Blocking

The Software Deployment feature of FastTrack runs an extremely resource light agent, which performs a number of additional functions beyond Software installation and removal.

One of these easy to configure features is Application Blocking. With Application Blocking you could enforce Executable lock down rules.

There are a number of pre-set applications – Dropbox, Spotify, Skype, Teamviewer, Internet Explorer and Chrome, but it’s also easy to enter a custom .exe file in here.

Once you have configured the EXE name, you are now able to set the condition of how this application block will be put into force. Like most FastTrack features, once configured you have the ability to set powerful, easy to construct rule conditions – single, multiple (AND/OR) and reverse conditions (negate). If you want to block a particular application that is run NOT inside an IP scope (ie not at work) – no problem!

All of FastTracks ‘in app’ functionality can be easily converted to and enhanced with custom scripting in our easy to learn language. It’s not possible for us to enable all configuration options in the config wizard screens (there are over 1,500 of them). So if you need to perform a certain function or achieve a particular condition you would add this to the ‘custom script’ function.

  • Blocks the running of any application on your networks desktop or servers
  • Highly configurable via conditions / additional FastTrack scripting

Infrastructure Light OS Deployment

There are various tools and solutions out there today that can assist with O/S deployment. You can choose Microsoft’s recommended technique via Microsoft Windows Deployment Services (WDS) or a 3rd party imagining tool such as Symantec Ghost.

The problem with using WDS or image based solutions is that after you have created all of your initial images, over time, you will find that images will ‘degrade’ as pre-installed software and drivers require updating. This can leave you with a lot of time consuming image management.

FastTrack Automation Studio solves this problem by enabling you create far more cut down ‘gold’ images for O/S deployment jobs. These cut down images need only contain the absolute bare minimum O/S and driver options which are required to get the target to boot into Windows and attach to a network. With such a cut down image – you will likely need far fewer, and perhaps never need to edit or update these again.

Once your target system has taken the cut down gold image and has booted up, FastTrack takes over and feeds a ‘One Time Installer’ (OTI) that you have created with FastTracks Software Deployment builder. This OTI system allows you to batch install any number of applications and drivers to install post first stage O/S deploy.

The big time saver with this method, is that if in the future you need to update any single software or driver component, you only need to update your OTI file, and nothing else.

Using FastTracks powerful condition system, you can build multiple condition triggered OTI files, so that for example, servers running on VMs take one OTI whilst ‘Fat’ client VDI VMs take another.

You can also add other post-install customisation, such as your own logic for computer naming.

  • Consistent Zero-Touch Windows deployments
  • Minimises management & update of O/S images to bare minimum
  • No additional services / dependencies to install
  • Add / update and remove applications contained within an O/S deployment routine without changing master image(s)

Device & Removable Media Blocking

The Software Deployment feature of FastTrack runs an extremely resource light agent, which performs a number of additional functions beyond Software installation and removal.

As well as enabling administrators to easily block particular applications, FastTrack can also perform a certain amount of conditional device blocking too.

Flash Drives & external hard drives, DVD / CD / BlueRay, SmartPhones and Media Players, Floppy disks and Tape drives are all supported device lockdown device types.

On configuration you have the option to set the the access level which is either ‘block’ (no access) or ‘read only’.

Once configured you can then set the conditions on who the blocks apply using FastTracks condition rule builder. Conditions can be single, multiple (AND/OR) and reverse (negate). Conditions are split between ‘Computer’ types (OU membership, IP scope, type, model, installed application and more) or ‘O/S’ where the type of O/S is set on the rule. So if you need to block tape drive access for all systems that are NOT on a management network subnet, and only and running Windows 2016 server only – then this is very easy to do.

  • Blocks access to removable devices/media on your networks desktop or servers
  • Settings for total block or read only access
  • Highly configurable via conditions / additional FastTrack scripting

EXE To MSI Automation

With FastTrack you can easily compile scripts into an EXE in a single mouse click. With the advance compile option, it’s possible to add additional binary files from your compile project, and feed them into a single self-contained executable file generated by FastTrack.

All of FastTracks ‘in app’ functionality can be easily converted to and enhanced with custom scripting in our easy to learn language. It’s not possible for us to enable all configuration options in the config wizard screens (there are over 1,500 of them). • EXE files compiled with FastTrack are completely standalone and do not require the FastTrack runtime or license file to operate
  • EXE file property manipulation
  • Command line compilation of scripts to EXE
  • Password protection of EXE file.
  • Enable elevation so to allow non-privileged users to run the EXE
  • Change the executing user to one that is pre-set in the EXE to run as for the elevation rights
